The talented Dutchman arrived at the Etihad from Bournemouth ahead of the campaign, joining on a five-year deal to become City's second addition of the summer behind Valencia's Ferran Torres. Despite much anticipation surrounding his arrival, the defender struggled to break into Pep Guardiola's side with just 13 apperances in all competitions as the Citizens secured back-to-back Premier League titles and a fourth consecutive League Cup triumph.
